Feast of St. Sebastian, Madhavaram, Chennai

Madhavaram, 9 April 2018: The Feast of St. Sebastian, the Patron of Parish in Madhavaram was celebrated with the spirit of prayer and devotion. Br. Simon, ofm the Parish Priest along with his team and the community with the generous and faithful from the Parish Executive Committee, Parish Council, SCC, Religious Sisters, various pious associations and the parishioners organized the 66th Parish Annual Feast. The Solemn Feast Eucharist was held on 9th April 2018 at 6.00 PM presided over by His Grace Rev. Dr. George Antonysamy, the Archbishop of Chennai-Mylapore concelebrated by Br. Praveen, the Minister Provincial, Br. Charles Bernard, the Vicar Provincial and friars. The Archbishop in his homily had a word of praise for choosing the themes for the Novenas and Feast which dealt with “Witnessing in the World through Holiness” as the Pope was to release his Apostolic Exhortation “Rejoice and Be Glad” which was also to propound on the life of Holiness. Through a well structured Homily, the Archbishop brought out the importance of life of Holiness and how everyone can achieve a life of holiness. After the Eucharist, the Procession Carts bearing St. Sebastian, Mary our Mother and Archangel Michael were blessed. The Journey of Procession went through the streets in and around Madhavaram for two hours and returned to the Church close to the Midnight. Meanwhile, there was an Ecumenical Worship which was attended by nearly 4000 people.
