Entry into Novitiate

30 May, Palmaner: Eight young men, having undergone the Franciscan Formation in the past few years made a daring decision to enter the Novitiate of the Order of the Friars Minor in the Province of the St. Thomas the Apostle, India situated in Palmaner, Andhrapradesh. In a traditional liturgical ceremony that was held, one of the Postulants knocked at the door of the Novitiate, Br. Charles A, the Guardian hearing the knock.. knock.. knock, opened the door and to his joy he found eight young men waiting at the door. Br. Charles asked the young men as to what brought them to the Novitiate. In unison, the young men answered that they had been attracted to the way of life lived by St. Francis that they wanted to embrace the same. Having welcomed by the Guardian as well as Br Praveen the Minister Provincial who was also present, the postulants proceeded to the chapel. There were instructions on the Habit of the Friars – its meaning, relevance and significance were explained. The postulants received the habits along with the Sandamiano Cross from the Guardian. Having donned the Habit now, the postulants left symbolically the world and began a new course in their lives. Br Carlos Dias, the Custos was also present.
