The friars at St. Anthony’s friary in North Guwahati are ever ready to reach out to the people in times of any humanitarian emergency. When we came to know that people in Soru Bakha, a Garo Tribal village, were lacking sufficient food due the lock down we immediately visited their village and took note of the current situation. Based on their immediate need rice, dhal and cooking oil were provided for 312 members of 59 families. Apart from that we also supported 30 daily migrant labours who became unemployed due to the locked down situation. We provided them with rice, Dhal and cooking oil too.
The humanitarian services were carried out mainly by the ofm Friars, assisted by Clarist Franciscan Missionaries of the Most Blessed Sacrament Sisters (CFMSS), representatives from Soru Baka village, St. Anthony’s School and St. Anthony’s Parish.
