At a solemn and grace-filled Eucharistic celebration held at the Holy Ghost Church, Richards Town, Bangalore, Deacon Brother Pradeep Anthony L, OFM, was ordained to the priesthood on Friday, 1 May 2026, in the presence of clergy, religious, family members, and faithful from across the city. The ordination Mass was presided over by Joseph Susainathan, who called the newly ordained priest to become “a shepherd rooted in prayer, humility, and joyful service.”
The atmosphere inside the church reflected deep Franciscan simplicity and devotion. The celebration drew members of the Order of Friars Minor, parishioners, and well-wishers who gathered to witness the significant moment in the life of the Church and the Franciscan community. During his homily, the bishop emphasized the importance of remaining close to the people, especially the poor and marginalized, echoing the Franciscan spirit of St. Francis of Assisi. He encouraged the ordinand to be a priest who listens, accompanies, and serves with compassion.
A central theme throughout the celebration was the scripture verse chosen for the occasion from First Epistle to the Thessalonians: “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances.” The message resonated strongly in the prayers and speeches delivered during the liturgy.
In his brief address of gratitude, Fr. Pradeep Anthony thanked his parents, formators, fellow friars, and parish communities for their prayers and support throughout his vocation journey. He expressed his desire to dedicate his priesthood to the service of God’s people with humility and faithfulness.
The celebration concluded with greetings, fellowship, and a festive gathering at the parish hall, while the following morning featured the newly ordained priest’s First Solemn Thanksgiving Holy Eucharist.
