16 April 2026, Palamaner: The Blessing and Inauguration of St. Louis Church, Palamaner marks a historic and grace-filled moment not only for the faithful of Palamaner, but also for the Franciscan Order in India. Scheduled to take place on Sunday, 19 April 2026 at 5.00 p.m., this sacred celebration stands as a testimony to God’s providence, the generosity of benefactors, and the tireless missionary spirit of the Franciscan friars.
The solemn blessing will be conferred by Most Rev. Dr. Paul Prakash Saginla, Bishop of Kadapa, and the church will be inaugurated by Most Rev. Dr. Prakash Sagili, Bishop of Khammam, in the esteemed presence of Rev. Fr. Xavier Durairaj OFM, Minister Provincial. Their presence highlights the ecclesial and spiritual significance of this occasion.
For the Franciscans, Palamaner holds a special place in history. It is one of the earliest foundations of Franciscan presence in India and remains a living symbol of the missionary zeal of the friars who came with the vision of proclaiming the Gospel, serving the poor, and building communities of faith. Through decades of prayer, pastoral ministry, education, and social outreach, the friars have continued the charism of St. Francis of Assisi, who heard the call of Christ: “Rebuild my Church.”
The new church building is therefore much more than a physical structure. It is a sign of renewal, hope, and continuity. It reflects the living faith of generations of parishioners who have preserved their Christian heritage and collaborated with the friars in nurturing the parish community. It also stands as a beacon for future generations, inviting them to encounter Christ in prayer, sacramental life, and fraternity.
The dedication of St. Louis Church reminds us that the Church is built not only with bricks and stones, but with the faith of the people and the spirit of communion. As the Franciscan family rejoices in this new beginning, they also renew their commitment to simplicity, peace, service, and joyful witness to the Gospel.
This celebration is an occasion of gratitude—to God, to the bishops, to the Franciscan Province, to the friars who served here through the years, to donors and well-wishers, and to the parishioners whose sacrifices made this dream possible.
In the spirit of St. Francis, the faithful are warmly invited to take part in this blessed event and rejoice in the unfolding story of God’s grace at St. Louis Church, Palamaner.
Peace and All Good!
